These arctic hunters use their frosty breath to hunt prey and defend their territory. By absorbing moisture from the air, and cooling it with special glands in their throats, Avalancers can form deadly ice spikes in their beaks, and shoot these projectiles with great accuracy. Each individual has a bony frill adorning their head. They resemble snowflakes, and no two frills are alike. Living in the tundra requires protection from the cold, and since Avalancers cannot produce fire, they rely on their thick coats of feathers to keep warm. These snowy white feathers also serve as camouflage while stalking prey on the ground.
trivia: Avalancers have an unusual habit of biting their own tails while they sleep.
